I just called and asked! Someone mentioned on the forum last week they'd seen OPs in the store so I immediately called. At that time they weren't sure any were left (they were so busy filling orders to know what had already been spoken for), so I just ordered, noting I only wanted new colors. I may be getting a few more - did the same thing on another order.

Admittedly, I usually do not take my own bag when I go grocery shopping. I often will recycle the paper or plastic bags that I get from the store though.

I decided to use my new Island SSB as I only had a few items to get this morning. Here's what fit into it, although maybe a better packer could get more in there.

I usually do take my own bags and I have to say the SSB holds depressingly little. And I tried putting wine bottles in the side pockets but they are too tall and fell out. Also, tried stuffing one in my SCB so I'd always have a shop bag on hand and it takes up way too much space. Sticking with my Chico bags from now on.

Have you turned your SSB inside out? It holds a lot more that way.

I don't use them in the grocery store. I need the disposable bags for my mom's diapers.

    To increase capacity:

    1. Turn the bags inside out. Having the pockets on the outside is great for cylindrical items, or for keeping refrigerated separated from non-refrigerated. If you're going to use the pockets in exterior mode, you must pack the middle correctly. So...

    2. Pack the shop bag yourself. Take the items from the cart and put them on the belt in the manner you would pack them up. I usually put jar-type items on the belt first, so that I can put them in the pockets first (again, with the bag inside out), which gives shape to filling the middle. I will put the tall boxes in next and then fill around it. If you're doing a large shop, have a few bags to further organize and protect things like fruit and veggies. If the checker scans things out of order, put the items aside and take the time to jenga-pack the bag optimally. Depending on contents, close the top with a key strap. The only place I would let a bagger near a TB bag is a grocer who packs in paper, not plastic. For example, Trader Joe's. Those guys know how to pack a bag properly. I've learned a lot from them.

After a few outings, you will be an expert. You will get looks of disbelief about how much you fit into a single shop bag. I have an excellent sense of what can go in a small and a large. I aim to shock and awe the cashier, the bagger I've displaced, and everyone behind me in the checkout. I think I've generally improved my spatial reasoning through shop bag shopping. You can do it!

Orange TB Family Photo for the Shameless Orange Lovers!

So ... while I do want to contribute more photos when I post, I must admit that I have the most craptastic photo skills that I don't really care to improve upon. :)

    Your Photos Are Needed-tborangefamily-jpg

Clearly, Burnt Orange is my jam. Synapse 19, Aeronaut 30 w/luggage tag attached, Synapse 25 (my precious!), Snake Charmer, COW, #3 Zest TSS, mini Q-Kit, Zest TT, 3DCOC, small Q-Kit, #1 Zest TSS, small and medium DOP.

I don't have kids so I look at this picture like a proud parent showing off their kid's photo! Although my siggy says Long live 152!, I only wrote that for solidarity's sake because that particular shade of orange sparks no joy and I don't think it'll ever be a part of a family photo. I would love to add a burnt orange Co-Pilot and all these Smart Alec threads have made me take a serious look at that bag as well.

Long live Burnt Orange! Zest! 152!

kkintea: your post made me want to learn that skill too. I am a pack-slob and my husband always has me walk away so that I don't mess with "the system" but you describing it makes it sound much more easy than him glowering at me ;-)

Aeon that is bag porn! Gourges picture, gourges collection!

Here in California we have to take bags *everywhere* not just to the grocery store. I stayed away from the shop bags for the reason you state...they don't fold down into a small enough packet. But then I purchased a LSB (I too find the small ones a little too small for what I use them for). Oh geeze, now I get it. They are insanely great for groceries, drug store, farmers market, etc. Versatile, they stand on their own and those pockets! I keep several in the car and have thrown out/given away all my old woven plastic ones.

But, I leave them at home when I'm carrying my SCB or SE and want a very foldable bag to take along as a "just in case I need it" bag. The ones I like are envirosax, but there are a lot of brands. The envirosax are great as an emergency bag when traveling too. But they are not good grocery bags!

@Pokilani, nice picture, but I can't help but think it would look even nicer if you followed @Ilkyway's lead and filled them with M&Ms ........ bear that in mind when you post a photo of your A30 perhaps? :D
