I am normally a pretty light packer, but on race weekends, I need to prepare for lots of conditions and carry a lot of gear. The following is my packing list for a warm weather trail marathon/ultramarathon weekend without TSA restrictions (driving). I’ve also listed a couple of modifications for a recent TSA carry on compliant trip that I recently made with a similar set up. I realize this might be a bit specialized for some, but lots could cross over to hiking or other outdoor adventures.
On my person:
Plain black strappy Teva sandals (love them as them are comfy and almost pass as dress sandals—but I really need to get them repaired or replaced—strap is likely to rip through any day)
Undergarments- Moving Comfort and ExOfficio
Ibex hoodie
Smartwool 1/4 zip
Lightweight Kühl pants
Arc’teryx windbreaker

________
Small Purse
On my recent trip flying, I left out several of the ointments (Biofreeze, Butt Paste), shampoo, conditioner and body wash, and consolidated all the remaining liquids into the two 3-1-1 bags—one more “medical” and the other more toiletries. I also pared down my purse to just few essential things and threw them into my SE and just moved the strap back and forth between the SE and the PCSB as needed. I also managed to slide my Macbook Air 13” into the backpack pocket of the A30. Kind of heavy with the grading and all the electronics, but I managed.
Edited to add a few things I decided to add at the last minute: bug spray, poison ivy scrub, antibacterial ointment
