Trailrunner's A30 and PCSB Race Weekend Packing list

I am normally a pretty light packer, but on race weekends, I need to prepare for lots of conditions and carry a lot of gear. The following is my packing list for a warm weather trail marathon/ultramarathon weekend without TSA restrictions (driving). I’ve also listed a couple of modifications for a recent TSA carry on compliant trip that I recently made with a similar set up. I realize this might be a bit specialized for some, but lots could cross over to hiking or other outdoor adventures.

    On my person:
Plain black strappy Teva sandals (love them as them are comfy and almost pass as dress sandals—but I really need to get them repaired or replaced—strap is likely to rip through any day)
    Undergarments- Moving Comfort and ExOfficio
    Ibex hoodie
    Smartwool 1/4 zip
    Lightweight Kühl pants
    Arc’teryx windbreaker

    Small Purse
Trailrunner's A-30 and PCSB Race Weekend Packing list-img_1765-jpg

On my recent trip flying, I left out several of the ointments (Biofreeze, Butt Paste), shampoo, conditioner and body wash, and consolidated all the remaining liquids into the two 3-1-1 bags—one more “medical” and the other more toiletries. I also pared down my purse to just few essential things and threw them into my SE and just moved the strap back and forth between the SE and the PCSB as needed. I also managed to slide my Macbook Air 13” into the backpack pocket of the A30. Kind of heavy with the grading and all the electronics, but I managed.

Edited to add a few things I decided to add at the last minute: bug spray, poison ivy scrub, antibacterial ointment

If anyone can help me figure out how to delete the last attached image, I'd be very grateful! I can go into "Manage attachments" but I can't figure out how to delete any of them--I want to get rid of the duplicate one that isn't linked directly in the post (newbie problems!).

Edit - I believe I have corrected it

Thanks so much for this post, trailrunner

I have some races I'm travelling for coming up this fall and winter (including 4 races in 4 days in January), so this is an enormous help in my planning.

Wow, 4 races in 4 days yugyag79! That sounds like a really challenging one to pack for--I assume you will be taking a different outfit for each one as opposed to washing things out in the sink in between? I'd be interested in seeing what you do with that.

A couple post-race reflections on my set up (ran a trail marathon on a pretty ideal weather day--about 40°F at the beginning and warmed up to upper 50s by the end)-- I ended up not using much from my drop bag during the race (but it was nice to have that stuff there just in case). I did wear my lightweight windshell for the first 4 miles and then promptly ditched it in the drop bag the first time I came around to it. Since then I ordered arm sleeves which seem a bit more versatile (can take off without removing my hydration pack).

Since I don't run ultras (although my husband does--but doesn't sign up for any that requires air travel), even on marathon weekend I don't need to pack nearly as much as you. That whole thing with extra fuel bars and hydration packs? Yeah, I don't do that.

That said, your list is very helpful for if I ever find myself in that situation. Very nice. And the photos are very helpful!
