    2017 XPS 15 9560 fit in Synapse 19?

    Hi all,

Does anyone know if the 2017 XPS 15 would be able to fit into the Synapse 19 in one of the caches?
    I know it's technically considered a 15.6" laptop, but it's really closer to 14".

    Here are the dimensions: Height: 0.45 0.66" (11-17mm) | Width: 14.06" (357mm) | Depth: 9.27" (235mm)

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi @Raccoon,

Welcome to the forums. I hope that someone with the 2017 XPS 15 will see your post and try to answer your question, but my guess is that this would be a tight fit -- mainly in the height direction.

First off, it looks as though the closest size cache for your laptop might be the vertical cache for the 2017 15" Retina MacBook Pro, which is slightly short for your laptop according to specs on the Dimensions/Specs page, but which might fit with the foldover flap, since the external dimension of the cache length is 14.6" / 370 mm.

I don't have access to the cache for the 2017 15" Retina MacBook Pro, but I do have the Lanier Briefcase which is an almost exact fit to the 2017 15" Retina MacBook Pro in the length direction. (I backed their Kickstarter project, because I like Nock's pen cases, and I'm a big fan of the Daylight Briefcase and wanted to be able to do a comparison with another minimalist briefcase design; but also because I wanted to provide a protective cache for someone who is very bad about using caches or brain cells for his laptops -- so far, this is working for this last purpose, because it has an open zippered opening the laptop can be dropped into, and no cache flap to disengage. It is not being used in a Tom Bihn briefcase.)

I'm uploading two pictures that show the Lanier briefcase turned sideways inside current model Synapse 19s: one in 525d Black Ballistic Nylon/Cloud interior, and a second in Black 400d Halcyon/Northwest Sky.

Here are the relevant external dimensions of the Lanier Briefcase, and the interior and exterior dimensions of the Cache for the 2017 15" Retina MacBook Pro from the linked Dimensions/Specs page.

    Lanier Briefcase:
    14 1/4" wide x 10 1/2" tall x 1" deep*

Vertical Cache for New 15-inch MacBook Pro Retina 2017
Interior Dimensions: (compare these to your 2017 XPS 15)
    9.5" / 241mm 9.27 / 235 mm
    13.7" / 349mm 14.06 / 357 mm
    0.6" / 16mm 0.45 - 0.66 / 11 - 17 mm

    External Dimensions:

    10.2" / 260mm
    14.6" / 370mm
    1.2" / 31mm

The Lanier, with its light padding, and turned on its side, is 14.25" compared to the 14.06" length of your XPS 15, and the 14.6" external dimension for the 2017 15" Retina MacBook Pro vertical cache. This is the critical dimension for fitting in the the Synapse 19. The 10.5" height of the Lanier turned on its side is going to look wide for the S19, but any of the caches you would use would be narrower, and within specs.

This is the Lanier (14.25" height) inside the S19 in Black 525d Ballistic Nylon/Cloud

Here's the Lanier inside a Black Halcyon/ Northwest Sky S19 (the Halcyon makes the fit a little easier). Each Halcyon grid square is 0.25". You might just be able to insert your notebook within a cache.

In both cases you're going to be running very close to the top of the S19. Maybe someone who has a the 2017 15" Retina Macbook Pro cache, and/or the 2017 XPS 15 can give you a better answer.

I have a 2012 XPS 15 and it does not really fit in the s19. I can force it in and zip but the corners affect the shape the top of the backpack.
