Heat from Hydroflask transferring to big compartment

IMO the OP's flask is faulty, none of my flasks ever get hot or even warm on the outside apart from occasionally on the lid, even then not enough to warm another item beyond room temperature, and I own several different brands in various sizes

Agreed, an intact vacuum flask should not be hot on the outside.

Also just chiming in to recommend sending HydroFlask an email about warranty. I’ve had a few different HydroFlasks in various sizes for going on three years now without any problems of heat transfer.

I have a brand-new Synapse 19, love it. But I carry my coffee to work every day, and find that the heat from the double-walled Hydroflask is transferring to the bag's large compartment...

Wow, I'm really really surprised! I've got three Hydroflasks (damn you REI with your 50% off sale!) and part of what makes them so awesome is that neither heat nor ice cold temps transfer to the exterior wall.

Where is the heat emanating from? The lid area where it connects? My coffee mug doesn't do that. I wonder if yours is working as intended?

Not noticeably, I don’t think? I’m Doing Some Science with hot tap water (110F) right now to confirm (broke out the laser temp gun and meat thermometer and everything), should have some results to share later on tonight.

ETA: after 1.5 hrs, only .1 degree warmer on the outside as it was empty, right before I filled it with the hot water.

OK, well I bought a YETI Rambler on the way home from work, and the temp differences were signficant.

before filling: H 82.8 Y 79 (warm in the apartment, the Y was in AC)
after five minutes, filled with boiling water: T 86.8, Y 79
after ten minutes, filled with boiling water: T 99.7 Y 83
after an hour, still filled with boiling water: T134 Y 84
on the lid, after an hour: T 144, Y94

So, I think I'll keep the YETI but the lesson is that that lunch needs to go down to the bottom of the bag, away from the lid, which does heat up. Also, maybe I shouldn't fill it completely.
I can return it and get a KK...maybe I will.

all over the bottle, but especially on the lid. See my temp results above. The entire bottle warmed up significantly. I wonder if the insulation got compromised somehow.

Hi Tim,
I can see why that would be frustrating. I don't know how old your HF is, but I replace mine after a few years because of the heat issue. I have replaced caps and lids throught the years too, but to little effect.

Thanks, all, really helpful. Returning the Yeti today, it's just too big for the same 18 oz, and getting a KK. I have every expectation that that will resolve the issue.
