Synapse 25, Z2 CPAP, torso length

    Hello all,
I will be doing some primitive camping on the cayes in Belize and am considering purchasing a Synapse 25 bag for the trip. I am wondering if the water bottle pocket will safely hold the Z2 CPAP in a neoprene sleeve. The machine measures (L x W x H) 6.48" X 3.30" X 2.02" (16.46 cm x 8.38 cm x 5.13 cm) and has nothing sticking out when packed. I am not taking a laptop so no worries it will bang against it.
I have broad shoulders but am short in the torso. My men's Deuter pack is set at 16". If I get the Synapse 25 and the padded hip belt, will the pack bunch in the middle some so the straps do not cut into my neck? Would anchoring stuff to the top D rings encourage that?
    Thanks

Hi @Candas, welcome to the Forums!

I'll let someone else answer the torso length question, but I can answer about the CPAP: I don't have that model of CPAP but I do have a water bottle that's slightly larger than those measurements. My water bottle is 9" high (actually I think with this cap on it's a little more than 9" high) and 3.5" wide, and it fits in the water bottle compartment so your CPAP should fit there too.

    I have a bunch of great bags. Favorite color combos include Aubergine/Island, Navy/Solar, Forest/UV, Original Halcyon/Wasabi, Cloud/Viridian.

I've fulfilled my dream of palindromic-colored nested bags! Navy/Ultraviolet Pilot with Aubergine/Island Side Effect inside: blue purple purple blue. Forest/UV A45 with Aubergine/Wasabi Co-Pilot inside: green purple purple green.

Not sure about the torso length either, however a Nalgene (which has slightly larger dimensions than the CPAP) fits in the center pocket as well as the bottom front pocket comfortably.

Check out this REI link about backpack fitting... they have a nice section in it about how to measure your torso/back...grab a tape measure and a friend and see how tall your torso is... compare that to the S25 pack height and you'll have an idea of where it will fall on you

Thanks G42. I researched and was fitted for my big pack at REI. A men's pack with the shortest torso was the best fit. Oddly enough, I am high-waisted and need a long torso bathing suit. I love that pack, but am trying to take something more airline friendly. Having something for travel will be nice since I will not have to carry the heavy CPAP with me anymore. I purchased both the synapse 19 and 25 with a padded hip belt. I will pack them up to see if either will work and send back what doesn't.

That's the best way to do it - let us know what does and does not work out for you!
