Personally I prefer the 1". And since the PCSB has been my go-to bag for the last 10 months (easy to wipe down and carries a ton). I find the 1.5" is too much unless you're literally carrying bricks....

You lost me at laptop compartment because I'd rather use a padded sleeve I can remove myself but the rest of this sounds fantastic!
